What to Consider when Choosing Outdoor Blinds

There are many considerations when deciding on an outdoor blind. Key considerations are:

  1. Product
  2. Operating System
  3. Fabric

Read below to determine which type is suited to you or if you know, feel free to browse our options and request an obligation-free measure and quote.

Which Product Suits You?

Are you looking to expand your living area by completely enclosing your pergola, verandah, patio or deck? Or is your priority to protect you and the area from the weather, lack of privacy, theft or other elements?

Totally sealed blinds

These retractable blinds are sealed on the sides and top. By fixing them on your outdoor living area you can create an all year round sealed living area and eliminate all the elements allowing you to heat or cool your area.  As the blinds are retractable scenic views are not blocked and whilst retracted you are conveniently protecting and storing your blinds. Ziptrak and Zipscreen are brands which are commonly used.

Straight drop blinds

Unlike the totally sealed blinds, these retractable blinds are not sealed. They are perfect if you are looking to keep your decorative posts or walls free from tracking.  This product is also useful in places where you do not want to protrude on the outside access area such as, pathways, gardens etc. Go to our Crank/Gearbox page for more information.

Wire guided blinds

These retractable blinds have a wire that helps to guide the blinds. Wire guide blinds offer functionality, style and control. They are not sealed to the wall or posts and are useful in places with limited access for securing the bottom of the blinds. Go to our Crank/Gearbox page for more information.

Window awnings

These are great on windows. Air can circulate under the blind therefore cooling and insulating your window and house. Whilst retracted you are conveniently protecting and storing your awning. Go to our Awnings page for more information.

Which Operating System Suits Your Area?

What type of fixing or operating system suits you? Do you need ease of operation? Would you like them to be motorised?

Roller Blind (Spring Loaded)

A quick and easy system whereby a pre-tension loaded spring is located in the tube at the top of the blind assisting you to roll up your blind.

Motorised

Raise and lower you blind at the touch of a button. We have the option of solar powered or electric motors.

Cord & Pulley

The looped cord can be pulled to roll these blinds up and down from the bottom of the blind.

Roller Blind (Gearbox)

A winding mechanism in the top roller tube allows you to move the blind up and down. The mechanism also tensions the blind whilst down, minimising wrinkling.

Which type of Fabric?
